It was my intention to make these blog posts for restaurants a ‘personal recommendation, not just a business listing.’ In order for me to make these recommendations, I have to patronize these businesses and report on the food or service for my readers.
I took a date to Frida’s in Anacortes in March of 2013. It was a busy Friday. The wait staff tried to put us in a table that was literally right in the main walk way, with the front and back doors wide open with a strong breeze blowing through the restaurant, front to back. We first sat down, then asked to be put at another table, in the back. These other tables were available at the time we first entered, but we were given the worst open table in the house!
We were finally waited on after 10 minutes, at the new table. I asked to have the back door closed as the wind was blowing through the place, like we were on the beach. Our waiter complied. I ordered beers for both of us, which took forever to get to our table. We ordered the Fajitas, served with ‘steak.’ This also took forever to get to our table. The meat was pretty much inedible. That was probably the most mediocre, high-priced meal I have ever experienced. Our waiter must have come back 6 more times in the next 15 minutes to ask us ‘how our food was!’ Then, the back door was opened by someone else and propped open! Arrrrrhhhhggggg!
In hindsight, we should have just complained and not paid for the meal at all.
I do not recommend Frida’s Gourmet Mexican in Anacortes, under any circumstances.
